My wife of 45 years (then girlfriend) saw you perform at Voorhees Chapel on Douglas Campus of Rutgers Universary 48 years ago. I just ran across this website and thought I'd send a note of appreciation. I learned (very basically) to play your Wedding Song at my daughter's weddings. God Bless!
Thank you so much for your beautiful and powerful music!
First, thank you for all the wonderful music!
One of my wife's favorite songs is Faut Qu'il Vienne Le Temps --- but we have never found the words much less the music. Can you direct us?
My wife and I are so sorry to learn your Aug 13-14 concerts have been postponed. We very much hope you and Peter are well, and look forward to taking in at least one of your concerts this fall! Take good care
Dear Noel Paul,
I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to perform at the recent MCHT event. It was magical to see you perform and to sing along with you. Thank you for your support of the MCHT.
All the best to you and your family,
Marianne Miro
we met at Kerrville the year my friends ellen bukstel & nick Annis won your "contest" - I have been a HUGE fan for over 60 yrs.
I am President of the nonprofit....South Florida Folk & Acoustic Club.... any chance you would consider performing a 1- hr set at our 2025 Festival....Sat February 1st 2025 in Davie Florida??
“Don’t Laugh at Me” really hit home. My son, who is is the spectrum, wrote “Goodbye Bullies”, unfortunately based on experience: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/7ThnT6Aj4xT8VPpx/?mibextid=WC7FNe

After 60 years, I finally get the opportunity / motivation / incentive to say it; THANK YOU. It's been 40 years since I talked to my Son about a dragon living forever, but not so little boys, but tonight it all came back for my Grandson, quoting the whole song off the top of my head. A beautiful memory -- Thank you again.
Hi Noel,
Many thanks for all the many years of musical delights!! I have been with you since pretty much the beginning, having lived on the west side of Manhattan during the 60's. Those were good years, Cafe Wha?, Pete Seeger, Simon & Garfunkel in Central Park, The Fillmore East, Cafe Au Go Go, candlelight protests against the Vietnam war, Woodstock, my time at the High School for Music and Art, and the music that I was involved with then.
Then back in the 80's I caught you, Paul and Mary at Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto, (I can't remember exactly what year, growing old sucks) .
I assume that you are still resident in Blue Hill, (my brother has been in Bangor since '72). Did you know/remember Benjamin's Tavern in Bangor? I remember it fondly from the 70's, although I imagine that it is long gone by now.
I was always curious about the motivation behind the writing of the song Jean Claude, (which I just love), and saw you explanation on your Facebook page. Yet a mystery remains for me, and that is how you are getting notes on the 7th fret that are higher than those on the 12th? I can see you playing the first measure using a barré across the 12th fret, then the next measure of the song progresses to another barré accross the 7th fret, and you rock back and forth between the two. What I am hearing is a high C on the 19th fret of the high E string whilst you are holding a barré on the 7th fret. What am I missing? I would love to know how you are getting the notes that I am hearing, because what I see you fingering in the video you posted of this song does match what I am hearing.
All The Best, and thank you again for so many musical memories across the years!

Hello Noel. I just wanted to drop in and say thanks for a lifetime of memories brother! I remember as a kid hearing Puff in the back seat of my parent's car. Still love the song.
Take care.
Hi Noel,
First and foremost, let me tell you how much I enjoy your music. I've been playing my Martin D-28 since 1979 and both you individually and PP&M as a group have been huge influences on both my playing style and songwriting. In fact, I have one song in particular that I could see you covering. It's called "The Turtle Song." Can I send it to you?
THANK YOU! When I was 5 (1962) I heard your PP&M debut album. "If I had a hammer" went straight to my heart AND NEVER LEFT! Now in my 60's, it still makes me cry and is my MOST cherished album. You are one of my heroes and I love you. THANK YOU.
I can’t tell you have formative that you and Peter and Mary have been in my life. I’m 50 now and have been listening to your music since I was 7. It got me through a lot of hard times. I was that shy kid who never spoke and was always bullied for being different (when I was 42, I was diagnosed with high-functioning autism). I remember even when I wasn’t allowed to listen to your cd’s, I proudly carried them with me in middle school and high school, along with my beat up Walkman. Just having your music with me made me feel safer somehow. I’ve seen Peter, Paul, and Mary at least 6 times in concert, and you and Peter once in Waukegan this past Fall, and I have cherished every moment. Back when I was 19, my mom used her press credentials to get me backstage passes to your show at Fiddler’s Green in Denver. I remember Mary hugged me, and I took a picture with you and Peter. I never said a word though, and I remember vividly how badly I wanted to thank you all for doing what you do, but the words wouldn’t come. I had a very difficult time talking to or even looking at anyone at that time (it surprises me that I ended up becoming a college instructor). I regret not seeing you and Peter more in concert; I thought it would be too hard for me to not see Mary with you guys, but I thought you did a great job of keeping her spirit alive. It was wonderful to hear some stories I hadn’t heard, but most importantly, I cherished seeing my daughter Abby’s tears of joy as she absorbed every moment of her first folk concert. She has the same enthusiasm for your music as I did and still do. In fact, all 8 of my children have grown up listening to your music, and I am proud to say that they all love it. In fact, I’m hoping that you get back to Waukegan or somewhere else in the middle part of the country soon. I would love to take all of my kids to see you. Anyway thank you again, and if I ever get to meet you again, I promise I will actually say something😊
Hi Noel Paul, I don't know if you will remember me, but a decade or so ago we had dinner together at the airport Sheraton and Iron Horse Cafe with singer/songwriter Kate Callahan. I just wanted to reach out and share a name and quick story. This past weekend my wife and I were in Westport, Connecticut and discovered a photography exhibit in a pop-up venue. The photographs were all from the late sixties and early seventies. A few hundred rolls of film were discovered in an attic after being lost for fifty years! Once developed - a treasure trove of photographs was discovered from concerts all across the country. A few years ago the exhibit was featured at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Fast forward to this weekend, my wife and I had the pleasere to meet Michael Friedman and spent an hour with him looking at his photographs and talking about the musicians he worked with back in the day. Janis Joplin, Todd Rundgren, Levon Helm and the Band... and Peter, Paul and Mary. We purchased Michael's new book (Exposed) and are looking forward to reading it and enjoying all the photographs. Michael was so kind and engaging during the time we spent with him. He told us stories about the photographs and I am reaching out to you hoping this brings back fond memories for you. Hoping that you and your family are well, Patrick.
Hi again, Noel! I wrote here back on your birthday and mentioned I was looking forward to seeing you and Peter perform in Cerritos. Well, my friend and I attended the other night and had an amazing time! Us Gen Z'ers stuck out in the crowd and were approached by many people who were surprised yet glad to see younger folk attending your show and enjoying your music. We had great conversations and felt very welcomed. We loved the songs, banter, crowd engagement and singing/clapping together, and of course... the political messages, which makes us glad to see you and Peter continuing to stand up for what's right and spreading messages of love, justice and peace.
Thank you for an evening I will never forget. Thanks also to Peter, and everyone else involved who makes your concerts possible, as well as the great people we met that made that night special!
My husband and I (married in 1978 without the Wedding Song) have been blessed to see you live several times here on the west coast. I was just going through old records and found my favorite, Noel Paul Stookey Live, 1972. I played it for my 15 year old grandson who plays keyboard and bass and is beginning to write songs. I became misty eyed watching him pick out the notes to Puff the Magic Dragon on my 50 year old guitar. A new generation has been inspired!
Hello Noel,
Greetings from the UK. I'm 56, a singer/songwriter/piano-player, done well as pro for 36 years here in the UK & Europe, for 10 years been performing a show I wrote called 'The Billy Joel Songbook'. I just wanted to let you know how much I adore you and your work with Peter and Mary, your own songs, your voice, your guitar playing, your inspiring musicality. I came back to the hotel two nights ago after a show and had your beautiful Peter, Paul and Mary version of 'Early Morning Rain' on a loop for 30 minutes before I went down a rabbit hole on YouTube (again) of your amazing performances to unwind. Perfect. I see that you are playing in Tarrytown in June and Old Saybrook in August and had I not been gigging myself on those days, I would have made the trip from London to finally see you and Peter live. I so hope you might make it to the UK for some shows. Thank you so much for your gorgeous music and long may you (and Peter) continue to make it. Kindest regards, Elio.
P.S. I love hearing so much of you in (mid 60s onwards) Elvis Presley. He obviously loved you too.
My husband and I saw you and Peter last night in Cerritos, what a fun evening! Loved singing and clapping along to songs we,ve known our whole lives. After the intermission you performed a song, you said you wrote it when you arrived at an event a day early, we both loved it, but didn't catch the name.
Thank you for a great show!
Hello Mr. Stookey!
My name is Brendan Cleary, and I had the most awesome pleasure of meeting you briefly this past Friday, in the lobby of the Double Tree Hilton. You were on your way to the Folk Americana Roots Hall of Fame event at the Wang theater, and I play music at the Hilton Fridays from 5-8. While I love the gig, I never imagined I would have had the opportunity to shake your hand there one night. You asked if I had a card and I just didn’t and I felt so silly for being so unprepared. I thought I might reach out over the internet just to say hello and thanks again.
Since before I could talk or walk, my father brought me up on the music of Peter, Paul & Mary, among many other names out of that incredible era for folk music - Pete Seeger, Joni Mitchell, Dave Van Ronk, Tom Rush, Bob Dylan, only to name a few. The songs of the “Peter Paul and Mommy” album are emblazoned in my DNA along with the smell of dusty records and the click of my father’s old turntable. My first live performance when I was 12 was a duet with my performing arts teacher at a middle school talent show, I selected both “Stewball” and “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?”, both from your first two albums with PPM. Great harmonies and boy did I know the words!
Many a time my father told me how you and Peter and Mary blew his mind at the Saratoga Raceway when he was maybe 17 years old. I wanted to blow minds like that too, so I decided to play music.
I don’t mean for all this to sound too dramatic. But to meet you in that brief moment, that you heard me playing and singing some music (and that you didn’t hate it, haha), was a really special moment for me. Thank you and your daughter for taking the time to say hello. My truest passion is playing live for real people, wherever and whenever I can.
Thanks for being such a huge influence in my musical life,
Brendan Cleary
I was a fan since you can remember. I have always loved your music and the way you performed. Thank you for the good times.
