The Water Is Wide
(traditional, adapted and arranged by Noel Paul Stookey)
The water is wide, I cannot get o'er
Neither have I the wings to fly
Give me a boat that will carry two
And both shall row, my love and I
There is a ship and she sails the sea
She's loaded deep as deep might be
But not so deep as this love I' m in
I know not if I sink or swim
Oh love is gentle and love is kind
It envies not, nor seeks its own
But like the star in the morning sky
Endures all storms to lead us home
The water is wide, I cannot get o'er
Neither have I the wings to fly
Give me a boat that will carry two
And both shall row, my love and I
